SBI Clerk (Junior Associate) syllabus and stages, plus how to read the official pay scale. Confirm every figure in the sbi.co.in notification.
SBI Clerk syllabus and salary
State Bank of India recruits Junior Associates (Customer Support and Sales) through the SBI Clerk process. The syllabus, paper pattern and pay scale are published in the official notification on sbi.co.in. This article explains how to read that notification and how to prepare. It does not replace the PDF.
Typical exam stages
Recent SBI Clerk recruitments have used:
- Preliminary Examination - English, numerical ability and reasoning, with sectional timing.
- Main Examination - a longer paper that has included general/financial awareness, general English, quantitative aptitude and reasoning, plus computer aptitude in some cycles.
Language tests or local language requirements may apply after the written exams, depending on the notification. Always confirm.
Syllabus, in practical terms
- English: reading, cloze, error spotting, para jumbles
- Numerical ability: arithmetic, simplification, data interpretation
- Reasoning: puzzles, seating, inequality, coding, blood relations
- General/financial awareness: banking, economy, current affairs
- Computer aptitude: basics used in clerical work and recent papers
Salary and allowances
Do not rely on old blog figures. SBI prints the starting basic pay, allowances and the approximate CTC in the Junior Associate notification for that year. Open the current PDF and use those numbers when you compare job offers.
